The Truth About Hypnosis
According to television programs, hypnosis is a super natural power or skill that certain person possesses. The power of hypnosis allows him or her to have control over another person with a snap of a finger and the use of a pocket watch.
Movies, TV shows and cartoon series show us how hypnosis can make a person do a lot of crazy things like, barking and acting like a dog. The usual scenario is that the hypnotized person is always under the control of the hypnotist unless someone breaks the spell.
Well these scenarios might be a great concept for stories but it is far from what hypnosis really is.
Hypnosis is not a voodoo magic spell. Hypnosis is a trance-like state where a person’s self-awareness is heightened and his subconscious mind opened to suggestions.
It is also a method of treatment that may help people to achieve holistic health, reduce stress, stop smoking, sleep well, encourage weight loss and even stop anger and anxieties.
When the mind is completely relaxed and free from any form of thought, it is open to suggestions and new way of thinking. This relaxed state is achieved through the process of hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a technique and a process of planting small seeds of suggestions into the subconscious and letting it grow by nurturing it further with visualization and repeating the process until a strong thought pattern is created that it alters an existing behavior for the better.
For example, when you want to stop smoking or drinking, hypnosis may be helpful in changing the way we perceive smoking or drinking until our subconscious is finally convinced that smoking and drinking are unhealthy habits that needs to be stopped.
The problem with bad habits is that they are so deeply embedded within us that changing them takes a lot of time and mental conditioning. Hypnosis helps loosen up old beliefs within the power of suggestion. When a person enters a hypnotic state – the state where an individual is fully aware of what is happening but somehow unaffected by environmental factors or what is going on around because he or she is locked in a hypnotic attraction - a hypnotist may send thoughts into the subconscious and alter the thinking pattern of that person.
Remember that hypnosis will not cure your problems in an instant but with time and continuous treatment, hypnosis will surely make a change in the lives of the people who have tried it.
